Accessible Activities on the Gold Coast: What to Know Before You Go
Planning a day out on the Gold Coast when someone in your group has a disability, hidden condition, or additional needs can feel like a logistical puzzle. We get it. Here’s what’s genuinely available with an honest look at what works and what to watch out for.
GC Aqua Park Hidden Disability Sunflower
GC Aqua Park at Broadwater Parklands is proud to accept the Hidden Disability Sunflower, a globally recognised scheme that lets people with non-visible disabilities discreetly signal they may need extra support, patience or assistance.
Our team is trained to recognise the Sunflower lanyard and respond
with understanding and flexibility. If someone in your group wears a
Sunflower, our staff will provide:
– Priority assistance where possible
– Patient, non-judgmental support
– Flexibility with standard instructions where safe to do so
The aqua park itself is an open-water activity, participants need to be able to swim and move independently on the inflatables. It’s best suited to guests with hidden disabilities such as autism, anxiety, chronic pain, or cognitive conditions who are confident in water.
Practical accessibility notes:
– Hidden Disability Sunflower accepted
– Undercover viewing area for carers and family members
– Pre-booking online reduces queue time and sensory stress
– Waivers can be completed online before arrival
– Lockers available (/day) for medications, sensory aids, personal items
– The park is open-water, physical swimming ability required
– The inflatable course involves climbing, sliding and physical activity
Other accessible activities on the Gold Coast worth knowing:
